Caroline Swolfs n’est pas tombée dans la joaillerie quand elle était petite. Diplômée d’une école de commerce, sa carrière a tout naturellement débuté dans le marketing mais à l’âge de 27 ans elle choisit d’opérer un changement radical et retourne à l’école ! Elle s’inscrit dans une Académie d’Art et c’est le coup de foudre.

Sa véritable voie sera celle-là et aucune autre. Quatre années de formation seront tout naturellement nécessaires pour maîtriser parfaitement toutes les ficelles du métier de bijoutier créateur.

"Quand on découvre sa vocation sur le tard, on sait très précisément ce qu’on veut. On est motivé, on apprend plus vite. On ne se cherche plus car on a trouvé."

Caroline Swolfs est donc aujourd’hui créatrice à plein temps. Son concept est clair… comme de l’eau de roche, pas de pièces uniques mais des idées de collections en petites séries, au design simple, discret et intemporel. Et à chaque collection une nouvelle recherche graphique à la fois subtile et originale. Une déclinaison surprenante de cette fameuse goutte à laquelle elle tient tant.

Goutte créole, goutte de lune, goutte face à face, goutte de cœur…, ses bijoux sont distribués en Belgique et à l’étranger, souvent dans des galeries ou chez d’autres créateurs.

Dans ce monde où tout va trop vite Caroline Swolfs prend le temps de se poser et trouve son équilibre quand elle crée des bijoux intemporels. Ce qui la rassure et la motive à la fois, c’est aussi le fait qu’elle pourra faire ce métier toute sa vie… car il n’a pas de fin. Comme la goutte?

Met een handelsdiploma op zak begon de carrière van Caroline Swolfs logischerwijze in marketing. Maar op 27-jarige leeftijd ontdekt ze de wereld van juwelen en neemt ze een radicale beslissing: zich inschrijven op de Kunstacademie van Brussel. Het werd liefde op het eerste gezicht. Dat dit het zou worden was voor Caroline een voldongen feit. Vier jaar later kende het vak geen geheim meer en ontpopte ze zich tot een volleerde goud- en zilversmid.

“Als je je roeping wat later ontdekt besef je heel duidelijk wat je wilt. Je bent volop gemotiveerd en leert snel. Zoeken hoort er niet meer bij want je weet dat je je plekje hebt gevonden.”

Vandaag is Caroline Swolfs full time ontwerpster van juwelen. Haar concept straalt de zuiverheid uit van bronwater. Geen alleenstaande verwezenlijkingen maar ideeën voor kleinschalige collecties, steeds vertrekkend van een tijdloos ontwerp met een ingetogen oog voor eenvoud.

Elke collectie is het resultaat van uiterst subtiel en origineel speurwerk. Verbluffend is de reeks variaties op het thema dat Caroline nauw aan het hart ligt: de druppel uitgedrukt in de meest verrassende vormen.

Haar juwelen zijn zowel in België als daarbuiten verkrijgbaar, veelal in galerieën of bij bevriende collega ontwerpers.
In een snel veranderende wereld slaagt Caroline er in tot rust te komen en straalt elk van haar ontwerpen een tijdloos evenwicht uit.
Caroline Swolfs did not arrive in the world of jewellery until she was quite mature.
Graduating from a school of commerce, her career naturally started in the field of marketing but, at the age of 27, she decided to make a radical change of direction and return to school ! She registered with the Academy of Art and it was love at first sight.

That would be her true path and no other.
Four years of training were of course necessary to gain perfect mastery of her art.

“When you discover your vocation later, you know exactly what you want. You are motivated and you learn more rapidly. You don’t look any further because you have found your place.”

Today, Caroline Swolfs is a full-time jeweller. Her concept is as clear as spring water. No unique pieces but ideas for small collections based on a simple design that is both discreet and timeless. Each collection is the subject of new graphical research that is subtle and original - an astonishing range of variations on this theme that she holds so dear.

In this domain, where everything goes too fast, Caroline Swolfs takes the time to settle and find her equilibrium when she creates timeless jewellery.

What reassures and motivates her at the same time, is the fact that she could do this job all her life ... because there is no end in sight, as with the droplet.
